Do Infrared Saunas Reduce Inflammation?

Infrared saunas are fantastic for relaxation, improving sleep and aiding weight loss… There are many other health benefits to using saunas too but specifically, does infrared sauna reduce inflammation? The answer is yes! An infrared sauna is good for inflammation - many of our clients use our saunas to help with inflammation and other pain-related health issues. Below we explain how infrared saunas help nerve pain.

iHealth Saunas has been supplying top quality saunas and customer service to Australians since 2008. We are Australia’s longest-running infrared sauna company. Here is how infrared sauna is good for inflammation:

How Infrared Saunas Help With Nerve Pain / Inflammation

Infrared saunas work by heating the body directly with safe wavelengths of light as opposed to traditional steam or hot rock saunas that heat the space in the sauna. This is also why many people find infrared sauna temperatures a lot more comfortable as they don’t need to be as high as traditional saunas - and what’s more, the way infrared light penetrates the body can make them much more effective too!

The heat penetrates deep inside the body, pushing heavy metals and toxins out whilst creating the effect of a cardiovascular workout. This is also how infrared sauna helps nerve pain and inflammation as it penetrates deep into your muscles and bones. They enhance and improve circulation which brings oxygen & nutrients to injured tissues, promoting healing.

Infrared saunas switch the body into acting on the parasympathetic nervous system - also known as rest and digest - this eases our nerves and calms us down, helping to relieve nerve pain.

Studies have shown that infrared saunas are good for inflammation as they result in a dramatic decrease in the level of pro-inflammatory cytokines - which is a biomarker for inflammation.
